She was about to lose her business: A caravan changed everything.

Kieran's Camping Adventures

"Camplify got us out of a really difficult situation... it allowed me to rehire those employees that have worked for us for close to 10 years."

The call no business owner wants to make

Andrea had run Easy Parking in Kingscliff, Northern NSW, for close to a decade. Then COVID hit. People stopped flying. Her airport parking business—the one she'd built over ten years—started haemorrhaging money.

She had to hibernate the business. Worse, she had to call staff who'd been with her for years and tell them she couldn't keep them on.

"To be able to try and keep a business alive, we had to look at another source of income," Andrea says.

That's when she looked at the caravan sitting idle in her driveway - and wondered if it could be the answer.

[Watch] How a Kingscliff business owner turned one idle caravan into a fleet operation - and brought back the staff she had let go. (3 mins)

From parked asset to profitable business

Andrea listed her van on Camplify. The response surprised her.

Andrea listed her van on Camplify, a platform that lets caravan owners hire out their vehicles to holidaymakers. She'd hoped for a few bookings. They started coming through almost immediately.

"In the first three months, it was literally out every weekend, up to two weeks at a time, especially during the school holidays. And we decided that, hey, this is getting to be a good little business. That's when we started looking into buying another van."

Within 24 months, Andrea had paid off her first van entirely. What started as a financial lifeline had become a proper fleet operation - Easy Hire Caravan. She's not the only one - women across Australia are becoming their own boss the exact same way.

Building a business, not just listing a van

What started as a financial lifeline is now a hands-off operation - letting Andrea enjoy more of what matters.

Andrea didn't just list and wait. She built systems that increased her earnings and protected her assets.

She offers a Delivery Setup Service as a premium upsell on bookings - additional income on top of every hire. She tows the van to the guest's campsite, levels it, sets up the stabilisers, switches on the air con, prepares the fridge, extends the awning. "Basically, you just walk in and you're home, ready for your holiday," she explains.

By handling the tow herself, she also lowers the risk of damage to her vehicles. And offering delivery opened her vans up to guests who don't own a tow vehicle—a bigger market she wouldn't otherwise reach.

The best part? Andrea now has staff who cover deliveries. Extra income on every booking, asset protection, broader market reach—and she doesn't need to do the trip herself.

You don't figure this out alone

Building a hire fleet wasn't something Andrea had done before. But she wasn't left to work it out on her own.

"My Account Manager, Susie, is absolutely wonderful. She guides me through any difficulties that I may be having, or concerns or questions that I do have."

When something goes wrong on the road? Camplify's Premium Membership covers the van with comprehensive protection—whether it's on hire or Andrea's taking it out herself. "A quick phone call to Camplify, we've had an issue, and they help you through the process."

The call she got to make

Here's the part of Andrea's story that matters most.

The income from Camplify didn't just pay off vans. It let her pick up the phone and call the staff she'd had to let go—and offer them their jobs back.

"That allowed me to re-employ those employees that have worked for us for close to 10 years."

That's not a side hustle. That's a business.

Could this be your next move?

White SUV towing a gray caravan parked on a dirt road, surrounded by tall green pine trees under a cloudy sky.Your van's sitting there anyway. The only question is - what it could be earning?

Andrea's story is one path. But not everyone's looking to build a fleet.

Maybe you've got a van that sits in the driveway 48 weeks a year. Maybe you're looking for a business model with low overhead and genuine demand. Maybe you're testing whether this could replace the job you're quietly sick of. Like Tracy on the Central Coast did in 2022.

The numbers: high-performing vans on Camplify earn upwards of $40,000 per year in rental income. The average sits around $10,310. And although they started with just one, 43% of owners on the platform saw what was possible and now have more than one van listed—like this Newcastle owner who paid off their campervan through Camplify bookings in 1 year.

Andrea paid off her first van in under 24 months. What could your van generate? Find out now with our free, online calculator.
