Hire a caravan in New South Wales: Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the questions most frequently asked by our customers. If you don't find the answer you are looking for or need more information, please have a look at our
help section.
How to hire a campervan, motorhome or caravan in New South Wales?
Once you have chosen a van, select your dates and send a booking request to the owner and discuss your trip. Once the owner approves your booking you can make a secure payment via our platform.
When the first day of the booking arrives you'll meet with the owner to pick-up the van (some owners will also drop-off to your holiday location). They'll guide you through using the van and submit a pre-condition report to our platform. On return, they submit a post-hire condition report as part of the handover.
How much does it cost to hire a caravan in NSW?
Prices for motorhomes and campervans in New South Wales typically range from $60 to $350 per day. Prices are set by the owner and tend to vary depending on how far in advance you book, the time of year, the type of van you choose and its features (beds, kitchen, amenities, etc.).
Can you leave a caravan on the street in NSW?
Leaving your caravan on the street in NSW is typically fine for a short amount of time, as long as the van is registered. You should ensure that your caravan isn’t obstructing traffic or pedestrians, is roadworthy and able to be towed, is vacant and not left for excessive amounts of time. You cannot use your caravan while parked on the street. Before leaving your caravan on a NSW public street, consider if it would interfere with any of the residents, or if there is any risk of damage or being stolen.
How long can you stay in a caravan park NSW?
Under the New South Wales Holiday Parks (Long-Term Casual Occupation) Act 2002, a short-term tourist with a residential address can stay long-term for up to 150 days in a 12-month period. Each caravan park may have minimum or maximum stays, depending on their rules or time of year, so it’s best to plan ahead if you’ll be needing long-term caravan park accommodation in one location. Longer stays may become considered permanent residency of the caravan park, which changes rules and regulations.
How old do I have to be to hire a van in New South Wales?
Licensed drivers must be between 21 and 85 years of age and hold a full and valid licence that is not subject to any restrictions or conditions. Probationary licence holders and learner drivers are not accepted.
What’s required to hire or drive a van in New South Wales?
To hire a motorhome or campervan in New South Wales, a full and valid driver's licence is required. According to the New South Wales Government, if you are visiting the state, you can drive with your interstate or foreign licence as long as "it is current and does not change your status as a tourist or visitor". In addition, you must carry:
