How to hire a campervan, motorhome or caravan in Australian Capital Territory?

Once you have chosen a van, select your dates and send a booking request to the owner and discuss your trip. Once the owner approves your booking you can make a secure payment via our platform.

When the first day of the booking arrives you'll meet with the owner to pick-up the van (some owners will also drop-off to your holiday location). How old do I have to be to hire a van in Australian Capital Territory?

Licensed drivers must be between 21 and 85 years of age and hold a full and valid licence that is not subject to any restrictions or conditions. Probationary licence holders and learner drivers are not accepted.

What’s required to hire or drive a van in Australian Capital Territory? 

To hire a motorhome or campervan in Australian Capital Territory, a full and valid driver's licence is required. According to the ACT Government, if you are visiting the state, you can drive with your interstate or foreign licence as long as "it is current and does not change your status as a tourist or visitor". In addition, you must carry:

  • your foreign driver licence written in English; or,

  • your international driving permit accompanied by your foreign driver licence; or,

  • your foreign driver licence that is not in English accompanied by an official English translation of the licence.


An official translation is a translation issued by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters or by a translator accredited by the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators.
