The Gold Coast is a popular tourist destination in Australia, known for its sunny weather and wide range of activities, which makes it an ideal region for a road trip or stay in a campervan, motorhome or caravan.

December to February is the hottest time of year, making it ideal for sun seekers who want to spend their days relaxing on its many beaches.

March to May is a great time for surfers, as the waves are at their biggest and best during this period. October is also a good month to catch big waves.

If you're more interested in hiking or exploring the rainforest, then the cooler months of June to August are ideal. And if you want to avoid the crowds, then mid-week during the shoulder season (April-May and November) is your best bet.

For those interested in culture and history, a visit in winter may be preferable. This is when the Gold Coast celebrates its annual Arts Festival, which features a variety of performances, exhibitions, and workshops.

How to hire a campervan, motorhome or caravan in the Gold Coast?

Once you have chosen a van, select your dates and send a booking request to the owner and discuss your trip. Once the owner approves your booking you can make a secure payment via our platform.

When the first day of the booking arrives you'll meet with the owner to pick-up the van (some owners will also drop-off to your holiday location). They'll guide you through using the van and submit a pre-condition report to our platform.  On return, they submit a post-hire condition report as part of the handover.

How much does it cost to rent a campervan, motorhome or caravan in the Gold Coast?

Prices for motorhomes and campervans in the Gold Coast typically range from $60 to $350 per day. Prices are set by the owner and tend to vary depending on how far in advance you book, the time of year, the type of van you choose and its features (beds, kitchen, amenities, etc.). 

How old do I have to be to hire a van in the Gold Coast?

Licensed drivers must be between 21 and 85 years of age and hold a full and valid licence that is not subject to any restrictions or conditions. Probationary licence holders and learner drivers are not accepted.

What’s required to hire or drive a van in the Gold Coast?

To hire a motorhome or campervan in the Gold Coast, a full and valid driver's licence is required. According to the Government of Queensland, if you're visiting the state, “you can drive if you have a valid interstate or overseas licence”, subject to the following conditions:

  • drive only the class of motor vehicle authorised on that licence

  • comply with your licence conditions (if any)

  • show your licence to a police officer when asked to do so.
