Light, compact, tows like a dream. Then, it expands into a spacious 23-foot-6 berth caravan. This Jayco Expanda Outback has loads of space for the family with a queen-sized bed up front, a double bed at the back and then two full-size single bunks. The bottom bunk comes equipped with a privacy screen. The single bunks can also be converted into a second dinette for 2. The main table sits 5 people with a 3 seat at one end and a 2 seat at the other end. The van is setup for off-grid, with a 400-watt solar panel on the roof powering the onboard battery, a large water tank under the van and a fridge that works on gas or electricity. For cooking, there is a gas cooktop, grill and a microwave. For heating and cooling, there is a reverse cycle air conditioner and also a powerful 5kw diesel heater that works off the grid. Note the air conditioner and microwave do not work off the grid unless you use a generator, which is available if required.
