Other Factors Affecting Campervan Hire Prices

Long Term Hire Rates
If you’re planning on a long-term road trip, you can make significant savings by asking for long-term hire rates. Most of the owners on Camplify are happy to offer a lower price for long-term bookings. If they haven’t already noted this in the description of their campervan, just shoot them a message and ask!
Office Hours
Some campervan hire companies are only open on certain days and at certain times. If you can’t return your campervan during these times, you are often forced to hire the campervan for another night or cut your road trip short. The benefit of Camplify is that you can arrange a time that suits both you and the owner of the campervan.
Season and Demand
During the busier travel periods (Summer Holidays and Easter), there is greater demand for campervan hire and this forces the price up. To lower your hire costs and make your trip more enjoyable, try to travel during quieter periods (Winter and Spring).
In saying this, Camplify always offers a range of campervan hire prices for every budget!
One-Way Travel
Many Camplify owners are now beginning to offer one-way travel. This is perfect for those who want to pick up the campervan in one spot and leave it in another whilst they continue their travels. There may be a small fee attached to one-way travel but it is usually highly competitive when compared to other rental companies.
Minimum Hire Period
Most campervan rental companies have a minimum hire period of 3-5 days. However, the majority of campervans on Camplify only have a minimum hire period of 2-3 days, making them perfect for both weekend getaways and longer road trips!
To check the minimum hire period, look under “The Important Stuff” on the listing. This can save you a lot of money if you only plan on travelling for a few days.
Capped Kilometre Allowance
Nearly all of Australia’s campervan hire companies put a cap on the number of kilometres that you are allowed to travel each day. Normally, the cap is around 250km per day. If you travel more than this on any given day, you will be required to pay an extra fee per km upon return.
Camplify owners are normally pretty generous with their capped kilometre allowance, which you can usually find mentioned on the listing page.
Delivery Range and Fees
If you’d like to have the campervan delivered to a more convenient location, many owners on Camplify give you this option. If the listing states a “Delivery Range”, it will tell you where the campervan can be set up and the additional delivery fee.
Location Fees
Many of the campervan rental companies in Australia charge extra fees for taking their vehicles to certain locations (like the outback or alpine areas).
Owners on Camplify will normally state where you can and cannot take their campervan, but they do not usually attach an additional location fee. If you’re unsure, shoot the owner a message and discuss what is allowed.
Service and Cleaning Fees
When you hire a campervan in Australia, you are charged a service fee. At Camplify, the service fee is set by the campervan owner and can cover:
Cleaning the RV
Basic Pantry Items
Gas Bottle Refills
Cleaning Products
Customer Surprises (e.g. champagne and cheeses)
Other Costs (e.g. road tolls)
You can see the service fee charge under the “Pricing” section on each listing.
Booking Fees
Most campervan rental companies in Australia also charge a booking fee. Camplify applies a 15% booking fee to all bookings, which pays for:
24/7 Nationwide Roadside Assistance from NRMA
24/7 Customer Support Team
The Camplify Platform
You can see the booking fee charge once you enter the dates of your travel but before making the booking.
Insurance
Normally when you hire a campervan in Australia, you have to pay extra each day for insurance. However, if you use Camplify, every booking has comprehensive insurance included at no additional cost.
Optional Extras
Some campervan rental companies don’t tell you what optional extras are included until after you book. This might include things like linen, camping furniture, sporting equipment, heaters, kitchen appliances and more.
But when you hire a campervan through Camplify, you can tell exactly what extras are included just by looking at the listing page.
