Yarta-arra (Kaurna for "meandering around on Country") is a lovingly converted 2006 Toyota Coaster motorhome — light, modern, and ready for your next adventure. Whether you're chasing sunsets by the sea, heading bush for some off-grid serenity, or just looking for a comfortable way to explore South Australia or beyond at your pace, Yarta-arra offers a cozy, self-contained home on wheels. With seating and sleeping for 2, he's perfect for couples, friends comfortable sharing a bed, solo travellers, or a parent and child adventure. Enjoy the comfort of a queen bed with a high-quality mattress (it's probably better than your bed at home to be honest), a spacious fridge/freezer, full kitchen setup with induction cooktop and microwave, and a beautiful handcrafted Marri timber interior. While there’s no toilet on board, there is a gas hot-water outdoor shower available by request for those refreshing moments under the open sky. Yarta-arra is powered by solar and a lithium battery setup, supported by a 3000W inverter and 240V access for when you’re plugged in. He’s off-grid ready for a couple of days depending on sunshine and your driving habits. The thoughtfully designed layout, storage, and functionality make this motorhome the ideal base for your holiday. He's got great pick-up for a bus and cruises happily at 110km/h. Just keep in mind he's near the 4.5T licence limit — we ask that guests limit the combined weight of all passengers and their luggage to be under 280kg and use no more than 2 of the 3 water tanks while travelling. Book Yarta-arra today and start meandering around on Country — in comfort, style, and with a whole lot of heart.

Additional information

Thanks for checking out Yarta-arra — our beloved Toyota Coaster bus turned comfy, calm, and capable home on wheels. His name was chosen by a Kaurna Elder (which we're so grateful for) and roughly translates to “meandering around on Country,”... the perfect vibe for your adventure. Yarta-arra is ideal for couples, friends comfortable sharing a bed, solo travellers, or a parent and child getaway. Inside, you’ll find a super comfy queen bed, a full kitchen with a big 230L fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, and double induction cooktop — plus all the utensils and cookware you need to whip up your favourite meals. There’s also a stowable dining table, games and puzzle books for relaxing downtime, plus a great sound system that pairs easily with an iPhone or Android device for use while the bus is running, and a Bluetooth speaker for when it’s not. A gas hot water outdoor shower for refreshing off-grid living is an optional extra for your trip should you request it (note: there’s no toilet on board). He runs on a turbo diesel engine, happily cruising up to 110km/h on open roads — just keep in mind hills and heavy loads slow him down a bit. Yarta-arra is drivable on a standard manual car licence, but because he’s close to the 4.5T weight limit, we ask guests to keep the combined weight of all passengers and their luggage under 280kg. When you’re stationary, you’re welcome to use all three 60L water tanks, but when driving please use no more than two tanks at a time to stay within the weight limit. Power-wise, he’s set up for modern living with 3x 175W solar panels, 3x 100Ah lithium batteries, and a 3000W inverter/charger. Whether you’re plugged into external 240V power or relying on solar and batteries, the inverter will power the microwave, toaster, and cooktop (just make sure you only use one at a time). For everything else, the 12V system keeps your lights and USB chargers running without needing the inverter. We’re happy to pre-stock the fridge and pantry for you if you want to hit the road fully loaded — just ask, and we’ll organise it for a small extra fee. If you’re thinking about a one-way trip, let’s chat! We’re open to making it happen if we can accommodate it. We’ll send you a digital copy of Yarta-arra's welcome guide before your trip so you can start familiarising yourself, and a copy of that along with the manuals for all of the appliances on board will be waiting in a folder for you if you need a refresher or reference-point mid-journey. We look forward to helping you make some unforgettable memories with Yarta-arra!

Hiring rules

  • No smoking in or around the bus — thanks for keeping Yartaarra fresh for everyone!
  • No pets, sorry — we’re keeping things allergyfriendly and easy to clean.
  • No offroad or unsealed roads unless we’ve agreed beforehand (an extra cleaning fee will apply if he comes back dusty).
  • Please return the bus clean and tidy, with floors swept, benches wiped down, and any rubbish removed.
  • Grey water must be emptied before returning the bus.
  • Fuel tank must be filled with diesel prior to return.
  • If you're planning to bring any highpowered appliances (like hairdryers, coffee machines, etc.), please check with us first — some can trip the system or overload the inverter.
  • And most importantly, please treat Yartaarra with care and kindness — he’s well loved, and we hope you’ll love him too.
  • Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

Had the most amazing trip in Sarah's beautiful bus. Sarah's communication was amazing and she was very warm and welcoming when we picked up the bus. The bus is well equipped with everything that is needed to make for an incredible trip, the very comfortable queen size bed and full size fridge was a winner for us. We will definitely be hiring this beautiful home on wheels again.

It was an exceptional experience! We took the van on a 5 day trip over to the eyre peninsula for some diving, hiking and exploring. Sarah gave a great handover and explained everything we needed to know. Its a beautifully designed van and incredibly cozy. The drive was smooth and simple. We both found it comfortable and easy to handle. We cooked most meals over the 5 days in the van. Most of which were pre-prepared but the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Small word of warning, Im 62 and my head hits the roof while standing. I quickly adjusted but the rest of the van is super spacious and comfortable. The queen size bed is a complete luxury while camping It was really nice having the wardrobe and under-bed storage. We unpacked and were able to keep the space tidy and make it feel like home.

Niina Marni!? I'm a Ceduna-born girl who's travelled across every state and territory of Australia and lived in half of them! These days, I'm based in Adelaide and absolutely love exploring this stunning part of the world. I'm proudly parochial, a big fan of South Australian food, wine, and landscapes (I'm always very happy to offer recommendations) and think theres nothing better than hitting the open road to soak in all South Australia has to offer. Yarta-arra, our beloved Coaster bus, was built with care and intention to be a calm, comfy, and capable space for slowing down and reconnecting whether thats with nature, your travel buddy, or just yourself. His name was gifted by a Kaurna Elder and means meandering around on Country the perfect expression of respect and gratitude as we travel across the beautiful lands of Australias First Nations peoples. I'm thoughtful, communicative, and genuinely want your trip to be easy, relaxing, and memorable for all the right reasons. I'm happy to help with ideas for places to visit, assist with planning, or even deliver and set up the bus if youd prefer a stay-put getaway. If youve got any questions or special requests, just reach out I'm always happy to chat.
