After returning from our caravan travels around Australia, my husband Austin and I had sort of semi-retired and were thinking about how we could put our van to use while we’re not in it.

We came across Camplify on Facebook and loved the sound of their service so we thought we’d give them a call to learn more. My van is my pride and joy and I love it so much. We’d saved up all our lives and spent a lot of money to have it looking beautiful, so we were a bit concerned about letting somebody else use it. Before actually listing our van on Camplify, we had lots of questions - like who would be hiring it, how it would be looked after and how does insurance work?

Thankfully, the Camplify customer service people were very helpful and were able to answer all of our questions & concerns. I was very specific about the type of person I would allow to hire the caravan. I didn’t really want kids in the van (because it’s not a bunk van or an Expanda), I didn’t want anybody towing it and I wasn’t keen on allowing pets either. I really only wanted couples hiring it. Fortunately, Camplify’s system had been setup to cater for all of my needs and I was delighted to learn that I didn’t even have to allow hirers to tow - I could just set the van up for them at a nearby holiday park instead.

I’m not great with computers, so the Camplify team helped me put our caravan on the site with some pictures to make it look fantastic.

Within 48 hours of being listed, I was surprised to receive a booking enquiry for over $1000. Even more shocking though, was that when I looked at the hirer’s profile photos - I actually recognised the lady’s face who had made the booking request…

It was Jan - a lady who lives just down the street from us here in West Wyalong! I couldn’t believe it. We have known each other for over 40 years and here she was finding our caravan to hire on internet! Jan had been searching to find a caravan to take to the veteran games in Wagga Wagga with her husband. I knew that Jan would look after our van like it was her own, so naturally - after lots of laughing at the coincidence - I approved the hire.

We were very happy to help Jan & her partner Alan have a caravanning holiday and it was great to earn some extra income. The van came back as clean as how we left it and everything was great. I can’t wait to get my next booking!

Jan’s Story

My partner Alan was planning on competing in the veteran’s games in Wagga Wagga and we needed somewhere to stay. I wasn’t keen on sleeping in his tiny camper and we found that the accommodation out of town just wasn’t to our liking.

I was thinking of getting a caravan for our trip, but I didn’t know how to find one. I was very specific about the type of caravan that I wanted - a nice island bed, separate ensuite & some air conditioning because I knew it was going to be very hot.

I was thinking about putting an ad in the local paper to see if there was anyone in town who might want to rent their caravan to us, when I stumbled across Camplify online. It’s funny how these things pop up sometimes, just when you need them! I loved the idea of having a holiday in someone else’s caravan, so I thought I’d give Camplify a call to see if they had any vans listed near our place in West Wyalong.

I spoke with one of the gentlemen at Camplify and he was very helpful in explaining how their service works. Not long after registering, I had found the ideal caravan for our trip to Wagga. Air conditioner, island bed & ensuite - perfect!

Little did I know that the owner of this caravan was Betty - a friend of ours who lives in the exact same street as us here in little old West Wyalong! What are the odds? We’ve known Betty for over 40 years and here we were discovering her caravan on the internet. It’s a small world, isn’t it?

The connection through Camplify was just wonderful.
