Camplify’s 5 travel picks for Victoria in November

Camplify
Campervan overlooking the Victorian coastline. Perfect for a November road trip!

Well folks, the silly season is almost upon us. The first inkling of summer is right around the corner, and we can bet that you’re just as excited as us to get out and explore the majesty of the outdoors. But before we get there, we’ve still got to navigate November. An underrated month for travelling, November offers all the benefits of the summer months without the crowds and prices of the peak season. Here at Camplify we’ve still got plenty of awesome vans with availability all month, so let’s have a look at what makes Victoria the place to go in November.

Get paddling on the Murray River

The Murray at sunset

Every November, Australia’s largest river hosts the Massive Murray Paddle, an epic five-day trek down the river covering an enormous 415 km. But don’t fear! If you’re not a kayaker or canoeist, there’s no limitation on how far you go, or what you use to get there. Rock up between the 20th and 24th of November, with a high-tec hovercraft or a homemade cardboard box and take it at your own pace. Proceeds go to charity, so you can take a break from driving and feel good about yourself while you paddle.

Sample the local delights in Rutherglen

The stunning Victorian countryside

All throughout November, from every Thursday to Sunday, you’ll get the chance to wind your way through one of Victoria’s premier wine regions with the Rutherglen Gourmet Amble. This leisurely 5km track can be cycled, hiked, or even driven in your van, as you visit two boutique wineries; Anderson’s Winery & Jones Winery and Vineyard. Taste some of their top vintages alongside food perfectly prepared to match the wines, as you picnic outside in the sunshine with charcuterie boards and gourmet meals.

Pamper yourself in Fingal

Go on, you deserve it

We appreciate the rough and tumble of van life as much as anyone, but after you’ve been on the road for a few weeks or months, the idea of an all-inclusive pamper session begins to sound pretty special. If you’re heading down the way of the Mornington Peninsula (and if you’re not, definitely do!), stop into the charming town of Fingal and treat yourself at Alba Thermal Springs, where you can restore yourself in the thermal pools, or go all out and enjoy a luxurious meal alongside your rejuvenating spa session. We’re all about adventure at Camplify, but there’s always a place for a spot of relaxation and luxury.

Reach the top of Victoria at Mt Bogong

The Victorian High Country

Okay, we might not have the staggering peaks of other countries, but keen Aussie hikers can still challenge themselves without needing years of training to reach some of our highest summits. Mt Bogong in The Great Dividing Range is Victoria’s tallest at 1,986 metres, with a challenging yet achievable climb of around 8 hours. November, with warm days away from the scorching summer sun, is one of the best times of the year to have a crack at reaching the top of the state. You’ll still need to be an experienced hiker, and of course come prepared, but without the snow of winter or the guaranteed sunburn of summer, we reckon you’ll make it.

Drive the Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road

What’s a Victorian travel guide without at least a passing mention to one of Australia’s finest road trips? The 240 km stretch of road is tailor made for a van trip, with an abundance of stunning camping spots, an endlessly beautiful landscape rolling by, and a huge amount of towns to stop in on the journey. Tackling the Great Ocean Road in November means you get to hit up some of Victoria’s best beaches and swimming holes while the sun’s shining and the crowds are away. Take in the breathtaking views as you embark on a road trip you won’t soon forget.
