Custom Camper Vans: Two Mates Become Little Camper Co.

Little Camper Co. was created by Steven and Kevin. Two mates from Ireland who embarked on their own Australian travel adventure a few years back. During their travels, they were shocked that more Australians didn’t get out in their own beautiful own backyard.

It soon became obvious to them that was because an interstate Australian holiday could sometimes rack up the same cost as an international one. After a long stint sleeping rough in a van with a mattress, they put two and two together. Although they weren’t the first on the custom camper van scene, they wanted to create something unique, affordable and a little different than that of their competitors.

Knowledge through Experience

Little Camper Co, is a Gold Coast-based company made for travellers, by travellers. Boasting cosy, custom-built camper vans to create a little luxury abode on wheels designed to inspire the great Australian camping holiday.

“After our trip in our makeshift campervan, we realised that the potential and possibilities of converting small vans into awesome little living quarters were endless” Steven said. After weeks of extensive research, they decided to buy a small fleet of Mitsubishi Express vans and alongside professional tradesmen, design the ultimate off the grid travel companions.

Even after establishing themselves and their business, the guys at Little Camper Co. have never lost their passion for travel. “Travelling is probably the only thing you can buy that makes you richer, therefore we try and get away as much as possible. Regardless if it is a short two night getaway to Byron or a weeks trip exploring North Tropical Queensland, we're in! Our vans are always ready to go, even with short notice” Steven said.

Their vans have been fully customised, designed and professionally built by experienced travellers and tradesmen. Making smart use of every available space to ensure that there are no sacrifices on safety, comfort, storage and functionality.

It’s All In The Design

“Our vans are designed to stop and hop” said Steven. They’re fitted with an off-grid power system that will allow enough power to operate lights, fridge/freezer, USB charging ports and water taps etc.

The boys’ aim is for their guests to be able to go where others can't without the expenditure of paying for powered camping sites.

“We have a rather British saying that we feel fits perfectly with our vans: "save a quid, get off the grid". There are lots of cool links on our website www.littlecamperco.com that offer tips on where you can legally park up including some off the beaten track spots, which we are all about.”

Thanks to their well thought out designs, the boys have some pretty simple travel tips for the perfect QLD holiday: “We like to think that our vans have everything you need for the ultimate Aussie road trip. All you need to bring is yourself, good music and even better vibes.

They’re also big believers in keeping your domestic holiday plans wide open. “We like to try and not plan too much ahead. Every road leads to somewhere beautiful, but if we had to pick, our Southern Slicker itinerary that is available on our website is one of our all-time favourite trips.”
