Camplify Uncovered: Sydney to Wollongong in 5-days with Zac White

We recently had a chance to catch up with Zac White, a West Coast local who embarked on an epic adventure along Australia's East Coast. Zac decided to explore the breathtaking landscapes from Sydney to Wollongong and then a quick detour to the Blue Mountains, because why not!  So, buckle up and join us as we uncover Zac's incredible journey and discover the hidden gems he discovered along the way!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? I hail from the West Coast, right?

Oh yeah, I'm a true West Coast kid through and through! Growing up there was amazing, with all the diverse nature and landscapes around me. It's such a beautiful part of the country.

So, where did your recent Camplify trip take you?

Well, I decided to put the whole "West is best" saying to the test and ventured out East to see if Sydney and its surroundings could match up to the stunning places like Perth and Margaret River. I started by picking up the van in the city and explored awesome spots like Bondi, Coogee Beach, and the surrounding areas. From there, I hit the road south to Wollongong. I also have family at the foot of the Blue Mountains, so it was a great opportunity to head west and experience a different contrast to the usual coastline I'm used to. I must say, it really impressed me.

We'd love to know your favourite spots along the way. Any recommendations?

Sure thing! Here are some of our favorite spots:

  • Lincoln's Lookout

  • Seacliff Bridge

  • Wentworth Falls

  • Coogee Beach

  • Giles Bath

  • Gordon's Bay

These places really stood out and made the trip even more memorable.

We asked you to "Find Your Chill" on this trip. What did that look like for you?

Finding my chill meant focusing on a road trip with three main things in mind: cooking up delicious food in scenic locations, enjoying some awesome surfing and beach hangs, and exploring nature through hikes. We made sure to keep our expectations low so that we could be stress-free and fully enjoy whatever the East Coast threw at us. It was all about embracing the laid-back vibes and going with the flow.

Tell us a bit about the van you rented for the trip.

We went with a Renault van, and boy, was it a game-changer! The best part was being able to stand up inside, which made everything so much more comfortable. It drove like a dream and had plenty of space for all our stuff. Personally, I always look for a van with an accessible fridge for those refreshing beers and a pull-out desk for working and editing, and this van had it all. The interior was clean and modern, and the queen-sized mattress was super comfy. Plus, having a hot shower in the van was a fantastic feature to have.

Got any tips for folks considering a road trip holiday in the cooler months?

Absolutely! If you're planning a road trip in the cooler months, make sure to rent a van that allows you to hang out and be cozy in the back. It's a game-changer, especially if the weather is not on your side. Having a van with a cooking setup inside or an awning to pull out can be a real bonus. And trust me, a hot shower in the van is a lifesaver during those chilly days.

Any exciting adventures lined up for the rest of the year?

Oh, definitely! I just got back from an incredible road trip up to Exmouth, which is an absolute must-visit location for everyone. And I've got my sights set on exploring South Australia next. It's a place I've never been before, and I'm eager to hire a van and cruise along the coast there. I'm also considering a few other interstate and overseas locations. The year ahead is packed with possibilities and new adventures.

Follow in Zacs footsteps and embark on your own epic adventure, exploring the wonders of Australia from bustling cities to picturesque coastal towns. Book a campervan, motorhome, caravan or camper trailer from Sydney today. Happy travels!
