We’re thrilled to be part of your next journey. The information below is designed to help you get the most out of your adventure while keeping Oyster Mk1 in great condition for future explorers. Rates • Standard rate: $175.00 per day • Peak season rate: $192.00 per day The Oyster Mk1 is a fully equipped Toyota Hilux, set up for off-grid travel and WA conditions. Kilometre Allowance & Excess KM Your hire includes a kilometre allowance based on the length of your booking. Kilometres are averaged over the entire hire period, not counted per calendar day. This means you may drive more on some days and less on others, as long as you remain within your total allowance. Kilometre Allowance • 1–14 day hires: 250 km per day (averaged over the hire) Excess kilometres: $0.30 per km • 15–20 day hires: 5,000 km total (flat kilometre pool) Excess kilometres: $0.25 per km • 21+ day hires: 250 km per day (averaged over the hire) Excess kilometres: $0.25 per km Unlimited Kilometres (Unlimited Touring Pack) • Not available for 1–7 day hires • 8–14 days: $35.00 per day • 15–20 days: $30.00 per day • 21+ days: $25.00 per day Unlimited KM must be selected in advance and is subject to eligibility. Planning Your Trip We encourage you to share your travel plans with us before departure so we can provide up-to-date advice on road conditions, access, and local considerations. Oyster Mk1 is a highly capable 4WD camper. In special circumstances, access to restricted areas may be approved at our sole discretion, based on experience and conditions. Respect the Vehicle & Environment Enjoy exploring Western Australia, but please treat both the vehicle and the environment with care so others can enjoy them too. Return Guidelines Please ensure the following upon return: 1. Return the vehicle clean and ready for the next hire 2. Strip bed sheets and leave them ready for washing 3. A DIY high-pressure wash (e.g. Rhino Wash) and interior vacuum is sufficient 4. Do not wash the rooftop tent 5. Clean any grease from the hotplate before storing 6. Return the vehicle with a full tank of diesel (A petrol station is located approximately 2 minutes away) 7. Select “Clean the Van for Me” if you are unable to clean the vehicle (Additional charges may apply if returned excessively dirty) 8. Select “Outback Trip Clean – Excluding Toilet” if exposed to red dust and unable to fully clean (Extra charges may apply if red dust remains) 9. Refer to the Open Shell Adventures – Cleaning Standards Document for full details Please DO • Enjoy yourself • Ask questions if needed • Have an incredible holiday Please DO NOT • Smoke or vape inside the vehicle • Use drive-throughs, underground parking, or automatic car washes (Vehicle height exceeds limits) • Store fish or fishing bait inside the vehicle (Cleaning fees will apply) • Exceed posted speed limits Beach & Water Use – Important Parking or stopping the vehicle below the high-tide water line is strictly prohibited. Driving through water or allowing any salt-water contact is not covered by insurance and is done entirely at the hirer’s own risk. No salt-water exposure is permitted at any time.

Hiring rules

• Clean any grease from the hotplate before storing it.
• Fill the tank with diesel before returning. There is a petrol station just 2 minute away from our location.
• Do not smoke in the vehicle.
• Pets are allowed for an additional charge during booking.
• Do not store fish or fishing bait in the car (cleaning fees will apply).
• Do not exceed the speed limit.
• Clean after your pets, additional charge will apply for cleaning.
• Please select the “Clean the Van for Me” option if you're unable to clean the vehicle at the end of your hire. Additional cleaning charges may apply if the vehicle is returned in an unclean state.
• Please select the “Outback Trip Clean Excluding Toilet” option if the vehicle is exposed to red dust and you’re unable to thoroughly clean it inside and out. Extra charges may apply if red dust is not properly cleaned upon return.

  This was our second rental with Open shell and we had another great trip. The van is perfectly set up to be entirely self-sufficient and very user friendly even for novice campers like us. Steven and Paige were very responsive to any queries we had. Would definitely recommend for exploring the outback.

  We completed a round trip from Perth to Exmouth in Oyster Mk 1. Everything was great. I really appreciated Paiges highly responsive communication. We took the option of pick up and drop off at the airport which was super convenient. We had such an awesome trip in Oyster Mk 1. The car was well equipped with everything we needed and drove and handled really well. I would not hesitate in recommending Open Shell Adventures. Thanks Paige and Steven.   The van was kitted out perfectly with everything we needed for a road trip around WA. The spacious fridge and dual power supply allowed us to be self-sufficient and the rooftop tent could be set up and taken down very quickly and easily. Paige and Stephen were always available for any queries we had along the way. We would definitely use Open-Shell campers again for our next trip!
