Underneath the Alto: Its independent Flex ride suspension and very low centre of gravity provide great stability to the Alto. Its floor and frame are made of aluminium. For maximum aerodynamics, the weld-free frame supports streamlined tanks. Powerful electric brakes come as standard equipment. A Green Travel Trailer: Faced with the steady increase in the price of gasoline and the social responsibility we all share to save non-renewable fossil energy, Safari Condo wanted to design ultra-light travel trailers with the lowest possible drag coefficient. Travel trailers meeting these two criteria could then be readily towed by smaller vehicles. Even more environmentally conscious, Safari Condo also wanted its materials selection to be not only lightweight but for the most part recyclable. Aircraft-inspired The Alto combines lightweight, aerodynamics and durability. Your car will love taking off with it. Materials: Roof and walls are made of a sandwich-type material with a plastic honeycomb core laminated with Alufiber on one side and aluminium on the other. Alufiber combines the lightweight of aluminium with the durability of fiberglass. The only materials used in building the Alto are those on which water has little effect such as aluminium, Alufiber, plastic, Formica and glass. Inside, the furniture consists largely of aluminium and composite materials. Rigid and ultra-light sandwich panels are integrated into the bed cushions, while the entire bed structure is made of aluminium extrusions.

  This is an awesome little van and Luke a very informative owner. Very easy to set up and take down once we were on our own We camped in rain and snow and were warm and dry. Totally recommend

  Had a great holiday. Tassie snail was easy to tow. This was our first caravan experience. Luke went through how things worked before we left which was great. The van was very comfortable and Luke communicated well.

  Had an absolute ball in the tassie snail! Light weight easy to tow,very comfortable. It had everything we needed,as we are a family of 4. Luke was very helpful,and informative.of the operation of the van. If we were unsure about something,he was very prompt in returning our messages. I would definitely recommend the tassie snail to fellow travellers,looking to explore Tasmania.

  We chose Lukes Tassie Snail caravan as it matched our plan of experimenting with towing a small, but comfortable van with our electric vehicle, a KIA ev6 GT Line very well. At just over 1 tonne, once we settled into understanding how it behaved, it handled well on the road even though our tow bar is mounted relatively low, so we did need to be mindful of that in dips and driveways. The van itself is well fitted out with 2 sleeping areas which both convert to seating; also having a fridge, gas stove top and toilet are all excellent conveniences, but best of all is the van is solar powered with 2 roof mounted solar panels making it mostly, self sufficient and capable of providing off grid camping. Then in addition, the vans ability to raise its roof and to be independently manoeuvred into position with the aid of easily operated motors makes setting up so quick and easy, even in awkward sites. People certainly noticed and remarked on its unique shape, as well as the combination with our Ev when we stopped at charging stations and the camp grounds, and it certainly passed all of our tests too!
