Safety and Policies: Safety equipment for your van
)
Safety equipment isn't optional — it's your responsibility as an owner to ensure your van is safe for hirers.
Essential safety equipment
Every van listed on Camplify should carry:
Fire extinguisher — a dry chemical powder extinguisher rated for A, B, and E class fires (or ABE). Check the expiry date and make sure it's accessible.
Smoke alarm — a working smoke alarm with a fresh battery. Some states require them in caravans and motorhomes.
Gas detector — particularly important if your van has an LPG system for cooking or heating.
First aid kit — stocked with bandages, antiseptic, pain relief, and other basics.
Reflective triangle or safety vest — useful in case of a breakdown on the roadside.
Torch — with fresh batteries.
Regular checks
Before every hire, check that all safety equipment is present, accessible, and in working order. Replace expired fire extinguishers, flat batteries, and used first aid supplies.
Annual Safety Checklist
All Camplify owners are required to complete the Annual Safety Checklist. This covers your van's safety systems, equipment, and roadworthiness. Completing it keeps you compliant with Camplify's standards and helps ensure your van is safe for every hirer.
Gas system safety
If your van has an LPG system, have it inspected by a licensed gas fitter at regular intervals (at least every two years, or as required by your state). Gas leaks are a serious safety hazard and a common source of problems in older vans.
