How to list your van: Write an effective listing description
)
Your listing description is your sales pitch, FAQ, and welcome message all rolled into one. A great description helps hirers understand what they're getting, builds confidence, and reduces pre-booking questions.
Structure your description
Break your description into clear sections:
The hook: Start with one or two sentences that capture the essence of your van. What's the experience? "Hit the open road in our solar-powered campervan — perfect for couples who want to go off-grid without giving up comfort."
The van: Cover the practical details — sleeping capacity, bed configuration, kitchen setup, bathroom facilities, power system, and any towing requirements. Be specific: "Queen-size bed, full kitchen with gas stove, sink, and 80L fridge, plus a hot water shower" is much more helpful than "fully equipped."
What's included: List everything the hirer gets — bedding, kitchen gear, camping equipment, safety gear, manuals, and any extras.
The experience: Where have you taken this van? What trips is it perfect for? A few lines about your favourite camping spots or road trip routes adds personality and helps hirers imagine their adventure.
The fine print: Any rules, restrictions, or things hirers should know — pet policy, smoking policy, towing requirements, kilometre limits.
Tone tips
Write like you're talking to a mate — warm, genuine, and helpful. Avoid marketing clichés and jargon. Hirers respond to authenticity. If you're genuinely excited about your van, let that come through.
Keep it updated
Revisit your description every few months. Have you added new features? Upgraded the bedding? Installed solar? Update your listing to reflect the current state of your van.
