Our 2006 Avan Cruiseliner sleeps three with a double bed at one end and a table that collapses into a single bed at the other. It is equipped with a 3-way fridge, gas cooker, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Sheets, pillows and cases, blankets and towels are also included. Air conditioning and microwave run on 240-volt supply. Camping table, chairs and lights for external use also included. The Avan is 5.5 metres long including the drawbar and 2.0 metres wide

Special towing information

Primarily for on-road use but can be taken on well maintained dirt road. Blixen comes fitted with electric brakes which is standard with this model Avan Cruiseliner. Due to the van's weight, it does require a brake controller. Blixen (our Avan ) is fitted with an electronic brake controller that is activated by an App (Elecbrakes) that has to be downloaded to a mobile phone. Alternatively, the hirer can use their own brake controller if already fitted to their tow vehicle and the electronic unit can be disabled.

Avans are light to tow and take two minutes to set up. This means that it's practical to pop up the top and boil the billy at lunchtime.

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    The van leaked when it rained. Luckily did not leak where we were sleeping or in the spot where my laptop was, just destroyed our scrabble board game and a big hoard of ants came in. The table was filty and unuseable as well as the clothes drying hanger so we had to buy these items. The back door containing poles came off while we were driving. It was lucky they didnt come out and injure people. There was aircon but it didnt work until my husband went to the hardware store and rigged up a makeshift funnel as it was just coming out at ground level ( as cold air doesn't rise). The fridge also didnt work without power due to an issue with gas lines which leaked.It was a nice experience to have a van, but I wouldnt hire this one again unfortunately. The flaws with it were not made explicit to us before we left. It needs significant maintainance before being hired out again.
