The freedom of a capable 4WD with many of the comforts people love about “vanlife” setups - without the hassle of towing a caravan. The Troopy is fully equipped with a premium interior fit-out and roof conversion, giving you a spacious elevated bed, interior living space, water, gas, and electrical power. It’s designed so you can comfortably explore WA’s remote beaches, gorges, and outback tracks while still having the essentials for cooking, relaxing, and even getting a bit of work done if needed. Inside you’ll find plenty of storage, a small desk workspace, DC and AC power for charging laptops and small devices, a 55L water tank with access inside and outside the vehicle, and a fully equipped slide-out kitchen with cooker, gas, and utensils. There’s also lots of usable table space and a couch that converts into a day bed inside. The roof pops up to reveal a full-size bed with canvas windows so you can enjoy the incredible WA scenery from above. You give up a little water capacity and can’t run power-hungry appliances like hair dryers or microwaves, but in exchange you get a powerful and reliable V8 diesel Landcruiser with excellent clearance and capability - the same platform trusted across the Australian outback for decades.

Before your trip I’ll walk you through the vehicle and show you how everything works so you feel confident using it. The Troopy comes very well equipped with gear to make your trip easier, including the roof conversion bed, awning, low-range 4WD system, MaxTrax recovery boards, air compressor, water tanks, slide-out kitchen, and cooking equipment. Most of what you need for camping is already included, and I’ll make sure you’re comfortable with the setup before you head off. Reynolds has three registered seats with seatbelts and a child seat anchor point. While the vehicle can legally carry three passengers, the interior couch converts into a small bed that is best suited for a child (approximately 140 cm long). The main bed in the roof conversion comfortably sleeps two adults. Things you may want to bring along include: - Personal items such as toiletries - Your own clothing - A head torch or additional lighting - Warm clothing or layers if travelling in cooler months - A reusable water bottle to fill from the onboard water tank - Your own pillow if you prefer (two standard pillows are provided) The vehicle comes with fitted linen, spare linen, and an additional blanket so you’ll already have the basics for a comfortable night’s sleep.

Hiring rules

  • While the vehicle is very capable offroad, it has been set up primarily for touring rather than hard offroading. Rough offroad driving is not permitted. Please avoid water crossings deeper than half a wheel, sand dunes, and very soft sand.
  • Insurance coverage only applies to gazetted unsealed roads and access roads to recognised campgrounds that are less than 20 km in length and in good condition for 4WD access. This means beach driving, sand dunes, technical 4WD tracks, very remote tracks, and water crossings are not permitted.
  • Never drive with 4wd engaged on normal tarmac roads, ensure you move the vehicle back into 2wd before getting back on the black tarmac or solid ground.
  • Cooking must be done outside the vehicle using the slideout kitchen. Please avoid cooking inside the vehicle and preferably leave the cooktop in its mounted position while in use.
  • The onboard inverter is designed for smaller devices only. It is suitable for charging things like laptops, cameras, drones, and other small electronics, but it cannot run highpower appliances such as hair dryers, kettles, or microwaves use the battery monitor to make sure you don't run the battery dry.
  • Reynolds is equipped with a 55L water tank. This is usually enough for drinking, cooking, and washing up for a few days at a time, but showers can drain the tank very quickly. Please use the water thoughtfully so you have enough for the duration of your trip.
  • A hose and water filter are included with the vehicle so you can refill the water tank from the side utility panel when you reach a suitable fill point. Please only fill the tank with clean potable water. The filter is provided as a precaution but is not designed to make unsafe water drinkable.
  • Hirer must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Hi, Im Nick - the owner and operator of Wayforge Campers in Western Australia. I started Wayforge because Ive always loved getting out and exploring WAs incredible landscapes, from coastal campsites down south to remote tracks further inland. Vehicle camping has always been one of my favourite ways to switch off, slow down, and spend time outdoors.
