Additional information
Automatic petrol: it's a great car to drive, safe, and very comfortable, and with its V6 engine, when you need to overtake trucks it goes like a rocket. The van has a registered Personal Locator Beacon in case you lose your way in the wilderness: unlikely to happen, but worth having just in case. It's a big continent, after all.
Hiring rules
- WHERE YOU CAN GO
- You can go where you want within reason, so yes to offroad gravel and dirt, but no to the Canning Stock Route or any serious 4WD track, and no to beach driving, because it's risky (and not great for flora, fauna and nesting birds), especially if one is not a local. We need to have a rough idea of where you're going, but again, within reason. We don't need a daytoday itinerary but we do need to know what area you'll be in.
- Interstate is an option, but only by prior agreement. So is oneway to almost anywhere, again by prior agreement, and with additional fees to cover Hinoki's return home..
- Note Hinoki has a registered Personal Location Beacon (PLB) lest you get lost in the desert: if you activate it, it will send out a distress call https://www.gme.net.au/au/emergencysafety/mt610g/
- FUEL
- Unleaded petrol. The tank will be full when you pick up the van. Please return it the same way
- COOKING AND HEATING
- No frying in the van, as we don't want it coated in grease, but you can of course fry outside on the camp stove (gas. included) or the induction plate (if on a powered site). There is also a small ceramic heater you can take, but you'll need mains power for this.
- Cookware is included, and we can throw in a large or small camp oven if you plan to be offgrid during the season when fires are permitted, and/or a freestanding campfire grill.
- CLEANING and LAUNDRY
- There's laundry liquid, dishwashing liquid, a tub and dish drying rack, a small hanging laundry rack, some elastic clotheslines, and plenty of clothes pegs. Also sponges and scrubbers, a duster, two dustpan and brushes, and cleaning spray.
- CLEANING THE OUTSIDE OF THE VAN
- It will be clean inside and out when you collect. Please return it the same way, but DO NOT TAKE IT THROUGH A DRIVETHROUGH CARWASH! It's too tall, and the poptop, rooftop solar panel or cables could be damaged.
- The winsdscreen washing reservoir will be full when you pick up the van, and it will have proper detergent in it to help wash off the insects that will inevitably splatter and stick.
- POWER
- The van has an inbuilt fridge which will run off the rooftop solar panel (if sunny), as well as USBC x 2, mini USB (for rechargeable lights) and a lightning cable for charging your phones/devices. There are internal lights including two reading lights, which will also run off van power, three rechargeable torches (two small and one large), and a set of rechargeable string lights. The small freezer is full of ice blocks which can be rotated through the supplied eski (cooler) to keep produce cool (camping fridges are too cold for fruit and veg).
- OUTSIDE FURNITURE
- Hinoki has a Helinox set: cafe table, two cafe chairs, and two armchairs (Savannah and Sunset models). There is a selection of colourful polyropylene camping mats in various sizes.: take your pick. They look great and keep the dust and insects down, and help to keep dirt and mud from getting into the van. For the same reason there are two Mukmats inside the van, with nonslip underlays for safety.

- FREE EXTRAS
- You are welcome to take an additional fridge, solar blanket and LiFePO4 battery; eski/coolboxes (there is one always in the van); pair of Zempire moon chairs (comfy but big); extra Zempire aluminium tables (small and/or large), and/or a compact folding Wanderer camp kitchen for the Zempire gas stove, but all of these take up space. We can also provide yoga mats, blocks and straps if you'd like them : )

- Bedding is included (real linen! 2 pillowslips, KS flat sheet, KS fitted sheet, KS doona cover) plus three tea towels and 2 hand towels , and we are happy to provide towels, pillows (choose your own from the pillow menu) and quilts/Rumpl camping blankets (which turn into capes, if you're sitting outside and it's chilly).

- GROCERIES/PANTRY
- There's extravirgin olive oil, tea and coffee, apple cider and balsamic vinegars, tomato and BBQ sauce and various other sauces and spices in the pantry, plus paper towels, tupperware (plastic food storage containers), aluminium foil, plastic wrap, baking paper and BBQ wipes.
- SHOPPING
- Lastly, if you're pressed for time and would like us to pick up groceries or prepacked meals for you, send us a list and we can do this for a $50.00 fee plus the cost of the groceries. Or head for the excellent produce stores and bakeries nearby.
- PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF THE VAN
- We're happy to be flexible about pickup and dropoff times, but please allow at least an hour for pickup so we can go through Camplify's onboarding process, and half an hour for dropoff (there's a Camplify process for this, too). Please let us know in advance what out of the free extras you want in or out of the van, so we can have the van ready for you, saving you time: this especially matters if your first overnight stop is a long way away. If you want to complete this process the day before to save time, ask: if we have no other commitments, that should be fine with us.
- Hirer must be 25 years of age or older.

Kate 5.0We were re-born. Slept like babies in the remote bush settings we stayed at. Equipped for every need & desire. Polly went well above and beyond what we expected and the van is a dream to travel in.
