  Overall, the vehicle itself (Toyota Prado 120) drives well and is generally a good platform for a trip. However, our experience with this rental had several significant issues that future renters should be aware of. First, the tyres on the vehicle were completely worn and had virtually no tread left, which raised serious safety concerns. I informed the owner about this before the trip, but unfortunately received no response and the issue was not addressed. During the trip I contacted the owner again because the lack of tyre tread became a real concern while driving, but again there was no reply or action taken. Additionally, some of the features advertised in the listing were not actually present on the vehicle. For example, the vehicle was advertised with an awning, but there was no awning installed. The electrical system installed in the vehicle was also not practical for camping use. It only provided usable power for roughly half a day before running out, which makes it difficult to rely on for longer trips. Finally, after returning the vehicle, the owner attempted to charge a $200 cleaning fee. This was surprising because we returned the car significantly cleaner than when we received it. Because of the safety concerns with the tyres, the missing advertised equipment, the non-functional electrical setup, and the lack of communication from the owner, our experience was unfortunately disappointing.

  First of all, thank you for your review. I would like to reiterate that when you returned the vehicle, both the interior and exterior were covered in sand. The fridge was also heavily soiled, and two of my sleeping bags were missing. Regarding the tyres, the tread depth was more than sufficient. Otherwise, you would not have been able to safely complete a 3,000 km journey and return without incident. This vehicle has been used by more than 20 previous customers, and I have never received a single complaint. As for the power system, the issue occurred because you unplugged the connector while taking out the camping chair during your trip and did not plug it back in. Based on the overall condition of the vehicle upon return, and the fact that such a simple issue went unnoticed, I believe the vehicle was handled carelessly during your rental period. Finally, I must say that dealing with someone who is unreasonable and repeatedly demands a refund puts me in a difficult position, and I honestly do not know how else to respond. I hope you can understand my position, and I also hope that in the future you will find a vehicle you truly like and a host who is a better fit for you. Regards Sam

  We had a great week travelling down to South Western Australia in the Prado! The car itself was great and the rooftop tent was super easy to put up and down, even possible on your own if needed. Basic camping equipment was included but we did pop to Kmart to get a few additional items like rubbish bags, cloths to wipe down in the rain etc. Communication was excellent and we would definitely hire from Sam again

  Perfect for our WA road trip. Had all the basics for camping and the van was in god condition.

  We took the car to Esperance. The car itself great. Sam is also very accommodating. We did have issues with the equipment, however. The awning was damaged and didnt work, the roof tent isnt supplied with the metal rods so we couldnt use the waterproof covers and the inside of the tent got wet. The fridge works well when plugged in at powered sites but it can be temperamental on the road. It wouldve been a better experience had the equipment been supplied correctly, and we might not have had to cut our trip short down in the rainy south.
