Top 5 National Park campsites within 2 hours of Perth

But if you’re heading on a shorter holiday and are looking to stay closer to the capital of Perth, check out these 5 awesome National Park campsites that are all within a 2 hour drive from the coastal city.

1. Potters Gorge Campground

Drive time from Perth: 2 hours

A 2 hour drive south of Perth will take you to the beautiful shores of Wellington Dam, where the campsite provides over 50 unpowered spots nestled amongst the native Marri and Karri trees. In the heart of Wellington National Park, this site is a perfect launchpad for local activities, such as bushwalking, fishing, abseiling, kayaking and mountain biking.

For only 90 minutes out of the capital, you’d be forgiven for thinking that you’ve truly found the middle of the bush at this delightful campsite. Tucked away amongst the dense peppermint woodland of Yalgorup National Park, you’ll find a proper sense of seclusion at Martins Tank while still enjoying a shaded kitchen area, BBQ’s and a communal fire pit to while away the nights.

3. Nanga Mill Campground

Drive time from Perth: 1 hour 30 minutes

Surrounded by a towering grove of majestic pine trees, Nanga Mill Campground is the perfect destination for those looking for an active outdoor holiday. As the starting location for two of the area's best hiking trails, Chuditch Walk Trail & King Jarrah Walk Trail, you can wander the bush to your heart's content before enjoying a night under the stars at the campsite.

4. Henry White Oval Campground

Drive time from Perth: 45 minutes

For a bush escape without needing to drive more than an hour, the Henry White Oval Campground on the northern outskirts of Perth is your best bet. With sparkling modern amenities including a BBQ area and hot showers, you can get a taste of an awesome weekend away without having to give up your creature comforts.

5. Gnaala Mia Campground

Drive time from Perth: 2 hours

Experience a true blue WA bush holiday with this rustic and rural campsite in Dryandra Woodland National Park. Suitable for all van types, Gnaala Mia spaces their sites at least 20 metres apart to give everyone a sense of privacy amongst the forest. Keep your eyes out for the local wildlife, with the campsite frequented by possums, echidnas and kangaroos.
