How to list your van: Set your rules

Camplify

Your hiring rules help you stay in control while making it easy for hirers to book.

Your hiring rules

Set clear rules that protect your van and set expectations:

  • Smoking policy: Most owners don't allow smoking inside the van

  • Pet policy: Decide whether you'll allow pets — it can be a great selling point, but it does add cleaning requirements. Consider charging an additional pet cleaning fee if required. Note this in your hiring rules.

  • Off-road policy: Unless you have Premium Membership and an off-road-approved van, hires should stay on sealed roads

  • Towing restrictions: If your van requires a specific tow vehicle class or licence, be clear about this

  • Kilometre limits: You can set a daily or total kilometre limit, with additional charges for excess kms. We’ll go into more detail on this when we talk about pricing and fees for your listing.

Hire duration settings

You can set minimum hire durations on your listing:

  • Minimum: Most owners set a 2- or 3-day minimum, especially over weekends. This avoids the overhead of frequent turnarounds for very short hires.

Seasonal Minimum: Consider setting higher minimum hire periods over Christmas, New Year and school holidays to maximise these busy dates, allowing longer bookings to fill your calendar first before reducing minimum hire days later to fill smaller gaps if needed.

Booking preferences

You can choose between two booking approaches:

  • Request to Book: Every booking requires your approval before the hirer can pay. This gives you full control but requires you to respond promptly to avoid losing bookings.

  • Instant Book: Hirers can book and pay immediately without waiting for your approval. This is great for maximising bookings, especially during peak periods, but means you're committing to any booking that meets your criteria.

Cancellation policy

Camplify has standard cancellation policies that apply to all bookings. As an owner, it's important to avoid cancelling confirmed bookings — cancellations damage your reputation, affect your search ranking, and let down hirers who've planned their trip around your van. If you need to cancel due to a genuine emergency, contact Camplify support.
