Deliver 5-star hospitality: Ensuring your van is sparkling clean
)
Cleanliness is the number one factor in hirer satisfaction. A spotlessly clean van earns 5-star reviews; a dirty one earns complaints and low ratings.
Your cleaning standards
Treat every turnaround like a hotel room change. Every surface should be wiped, every floor vacuumed or mopped, and every fabric freshly laundered.
A professional-level clean between every hire is non-negotiable. Here's how to get it done efficiently.
The quick-turn clean (for back-to-back bookings)
If time is tight, focus on the highest-impact areas first:
Strip and remake the bed with fresh linen
Clean the bathroom thoroughly
Wipe all kitchen surfaces and check the fridge
Vacuum all floors
Clean interior and exterior windows
Do a quick exterior wash
Top up water, gas, and battery
The deep clean (every 3–5 hires)
In addition to the standard turnaround clean:
Pull out drawers and clean behind/under them
Degrease the stove and rangehood
Clean upholstery and curtains
Scrub the shower with mould remover
Clean the awning
Wax the exterior
Service the water filter (if applicable)
Products that work
All-purpose spray for surfaces
Glass cleaner for windows and mirrors
Bathroom-specific cleaner for soap scum and mould
Microfibre cloths (they clean better and leave less residue)
Vacuum with attachments for tight spaces
Odour eliminator for stubborn smells
Build a cleaning checklist
Create a written checklist and use it for every turnaround. This ensures consistency and means you never miss a step — especially useful if you share cleaning duties with a partner or hire someone to help.
Timing
Allow enough time between bookings for a proper clean. Back-to-back bookings with only a few hours for turnaround can lead to rushed cleaning and dropped standards. Most owners build in at least half a day — ideally a full day — between hires.
