Camplify Uncovered: stunning Mid North Coast beaches

Boundless world-class beaches, endless exploration and a bunch of special spaces to find along the way - what more could a road trip call for?

Jacob, Shannan, Lydia and I had been craving a coastal getaway as much as we all do - a relaxing chance to connect with nature and admire what we have available right on our doorstep here in New South Wales. Waking up just walking distance from the ocean with the smell of the sea breeze and a chance to truly discover, this trip would have it all. Read on to see what we got up to after picking up 'Big Gary' from Newcastle.

First Stop - Seal Rocks

Just two hours north of Newcastle along the Barrington Coast, we arrived at Seal Rocks' Treachery camping ground. Tucked away by the sand dunes - the beginning of our adventure was capped by a gorgeous sunset by the beach and a close encounter with the local wildlife.

Heading back for a quick ocean dip before breakfast, our next stop was the café next to the general store in Seal Rocks for coffee and breakfast. It certainly wasn't an easy spot to leave behind.

BBQ and campfires

Seal Rocks truly is a hidden gem. Just a little off the beaten track and consistently growing in popularity due to its perfectly balanced world-class environment. It may not always be a convenient stop for some, but will always be worth the journey.

Crescent Sunsets

Second Stop - Crescent Head

Next stop on our list was another incredible must-see: Crescent Head. Staying in the chock-a-block full caravan park right next to the ocean, we still managed to have our own slice of privacy with Big Gary the van by our side.

Again - brilliant beaches in all directions, a short skip away from the local coffee shops (this may be a common theme), plus an array of photogenic locations to grab a few images, a photographers dream whether you're an enthusiast, professional or simply a social snapper.

Seaside Living

A surfers dream well renowned for its long lines, Crescent Head point continues to attract many both far and wide for good reason. After waltzing up Little Nobby for a nice sunset stroll, Shannan's famous spaghetti bolognese certainly did not disappoint.

The next day a peaceful sunrise provided some gorgeous light and a great chance to get the drone up for a unique perspective on the place.

There's one thing for sure - we weren't the only ones with the idea of relaxing in the back of a van watching the surf as we began to make friends with locals and travellers alike. Big Gary received plenty of attention and we an abundance of compliments for a van fit-out we couldn't take any credit for.

Third Stop - Scotts Head

Our final stop was our undisputed favourite: Scotts Head. The balance between some of the best locations on the coast, Scotts has all you could need when it comes to a beachside getaway.

Scotts could be described as a mini Byron Bay but with only the best bits included, it's unsurprising that this little spot is in high demand in all regards. Known by the locals as the best surf spot around, that's definitely not the only reason people flock in from all angles.

Wide-spanning beaches in close proximity, a friendly & welcoming local community plus a number of hidden little gems just a stone's throw away.

This is the Mid North Coast many often look past as they have their sail set for further up the road.

Not a Bad Work View

We'd found the perfect spot. Looking out toward the beach, we put out the awning, cooked up some more of Shan's Spaghetti for lunch (we just couldn't get enough) and made the most of the atmosphere.

That evening, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner and we waltzed over to the Scotts Hub restaurant across the road from our campsite. Live music and an awesome menu - what more could you want?

Well - we were late to the party after sunset, and they had already sold almost all their food. Going above and beyond to make an effort in accommodating us, we were able to be served a Balinese style bowl each, filled with the best bits from the menu and a mojito jug to share in the celebration of the awesome trip away together.

Sunsets with Big Gary

Our final day and back to reality, we enjoyed another sensational sunrise and a local brew of coffee for the extra fuel we needed.

Commuting together on the drive back after our second appearance for lunch at the Greenhouse Cafe in Nabiac, (another definite hidden gem) we all found a good enough excuse for each of us to already plan our next van trip away.

Needless to say - we're damn excited to get our hands on another Camplify camper and getaway.
