Adelaide is a bustling city set on a stunning coastline. Well known for it’s stylish architecture, beautiful beaches, unique history, world-class events and exceptional food and wine. What’s not to love about Adelaide!
Visiting Adelaide, you’re spoilt for choice with plenty of shopping, activities, attractions and kid-friendly locations. What I love about Adelaide is that one minute you’re in the heart of the city, and 20 minutes later, you’re relaxing on some of the worlds most beautiful beaches. Adelaide has a real laid back attitude and often has the feel of a big country town.
The BIG4 Adelaide Shore Caravan Park is an excellent stop, to park up your caravan and family for a few days to explore the region. The park is only a stone's throw from the remarkable Glenelg and its impressive beach, there is so much on offer in this area.
The beauty of Glenelg is what has visitors attract in droves all year round. With fishing charters, markets, tours, twilight cruises, open-air cinemas, cafes and restaurants, playground and plenty more! Be sure to grab a pic with the ‘big red heart’ while visiting Glenelg Beach.
After your day out the short drive back to the Adelaide Shores Caravan Park will be a welcoming one. A cafe onsite, resort-style lagoon pool, Splash Zone, jumping pillows, playgrounds and amazingly clean and modern amenities are what this park offers. The laundry has to be seen to be believed. Our favourite part of the park? It's located right on the beach so you can go to and from it with your kids and enjoy the best of both worlds. The games room has plenty on hand, in addition to a movie room and indoor toddler play area. Play equipment can be hired and go-karts are a great way to interact with the family and get around the park, also loads of fun!
If exploring the surrounds of Adelaide, you’ll be amazed at whats on offer. From the stunning Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale Wineries you’ll be hard up figuring out which direction to go. Pindarie Wines and Jacob’s Creek winery are just some of the kid-friendly options when visiting the Barossa.
If you’re keen for a bit of adventure then take a drive out to Aldinga Beach. Some of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve seen and the best bit? You can take your dog and park up on the beach for the day. Beach driving is very easy at Aldinga Beach due to the hard sand, so you’ll have no ‘getting bogged’ issues! Yet another stunning coastal location is Port Noarlunga which a perfect photo opportunity for the keen photographer and an opportunity to bask in the stunning views and beautiful waters.
Only 30 minutes drive northeast of Adelaide is the quaint town of Hahndorf, where you can savour the tastes of Germany. Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, the townhouses, historic buildings, galleries, cellar doors and restaurants.
The new Gulf Brewery’s chocolate stout, makes a perfect dessert to end your day. The cellar door also provides tasting paddles of many different kinds of craft beer.
Get to Beerenberg Farm for a bucket full of berries and fun with the experience of berry picking for the kids (and adults) and an all-round wonderful time! Taste, learn and relax during a hosted, small group experience.
Just past Hahndorf is Monarto Zoo, a safari style, open range zoo. Animals within this complex comprise of Lions, Rhino’s, Meerkats, Giraffe, Zebra and Tasmanian devils. An activity the whole family will love!
How about this for an adventure!! Kangaroo Island. Take your van over on the SeaLink Ferry and explore the wonders of Kangaroo Island. The remote wilderness and rugged coastline, pristine beaches, local wines, sunsets an wildlife, it’s most definitely a wildly gorgeous destination. With so many wildlife experiences on offer from, Flinders Chase National Park to Penneshaw Penguins and the amazing Seal Bay. Other adventures include Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks. Love a beach? Favourites are the untouched Secret Beach adorning caves and amazing rock formations as well as the stunning Vivonne Bay.
Everyone’s talking about Adelaide and it has really become a polished capital city. There is so much to see and do, not only in the city of Adelaide but its surrounds which are very accessible. A day trip or over to Kangaroo Island, there is so much variety and family-friendly attractions. Adelaide, once the invisible city, is breaking away from its conservative shackles that once defined them. With an explosion of new restaurants and bars to compliments the gorgeous city and beaches, there's a little bit of everything for everyone!
