April is the month of time off

There’s no better reason to book an April road trip than the simple fact that you don’t need to take too much time off work to get the most out of the public holidays throughout the month. We’ll break it down for each state, but if you’re looking for a comprehensive guide on how to utilise your annual leave, well we’ve got that for you too.

Less crowds, less worries

Often referred to as a ‘shoulder month’ or ‘the off-season’, we think April has been unfairly branded as a less desirable month for outdoor travel. In any case, international and domestic travel hits a lull in April, meaning you can catch an almost empty Freycinet National Park, stretch out on the still-warm sands of secluded Esperance beaches, and finally get a pic of the Kiama blowhole without pesky tourists standing in your way.

With the outback much more palatable with cooler daytime temps, the rainy season coming to an end in the north, and the water temperature still hovering around the early 20’s in most parts, you’ll be able to travel in any direction that takes your fancy.
