Perfect for couples, small families, or solo travellers who love their space, comfort, and freedom — without compromising style or reliability. Chippi is a modern, long-wheelbase Mercedes RV made for both on-grid adventures and totally off-grid escapes. Inside, she’s full of clever design — a bright and spacious club lounge that transforms into a large double bed or two singles, plus swivelling front seats that create a second dining area for that morning coffee or late-night snack. Chippi is packed and ready for anything. You’ll have a fully equipped indoor kitchen with a two-burner gas stove, microwave, fridge, and plenty of storage — though we always say meals taste better cooked outside on the slide-out BBQ. There’s also a toilet and shower combo for easy clean-ups after a day at the beach, and both gas and solar power so you can travel completely off the grid. Fully self-contained with fresh and grey water tanks, Chippi’s 12-volt system charges while you drive, plug into 240V power, or soak up the sun through her rooftop solar panels. She’s just been serviced (October 2025) with brand-new tyres, a new water pressure pump, and finally, that perfect hot water system everyone loves. Inside is light, fresh and comfortable — with a large main bed, fold out single, a dvd-TV, USB player, and everything you need to unwind and explore. Dogs are absolutely welcome, because no adventure is complete without your best mate by your side.

A few extra notes about Chippi: • Driving Chippi: She’s easy to drive, with a high roof for standing room, a reversing camera for simple parking, and smooth handling on long trips. • Off-Grid Friendly: Thanks to solar panels and a gas setup, Chippi is perfect for off-grid camping. Air-conditioner and power points only work when plugged into power, usb power works off grid. • Freshly Cleaned: We thoroughly clean and check everything between hires to make sure you have a fresh start to your adventure. • Dog Friendly: We love pets! Well-behaved dogs are welcome for a small fee • Included: Fresh water tank filled, gas bottles, all kitchen essentials, bedding, camping chairs, and a few extras available to make it feel like home! • Fuel: Please return Chippi with a full tank of diesel. • Have fun: That’s a rule!

Hiring rules

  • Other Hiring Rules for Chippi:
  • • No smoking cigarettes inside the van, vapes and 420 fine (if you’re not driving!) just doors open 🙌🏽
  • • Pets are welcome for a small fee.
  • • Please return Chippi with a full tank of diesel.
  • • Only light offroad travel is permitted (e.g., maintained dirt roads or campgrounds) — no heavy offroading.
  • • Please treat Chippi with care — she’s our pride and joy!
  • • Hirers must be over 22 years old.
  • • Report any damages or issues promptly so we can keep Chippi in top condition for future adventurers.
  • FAQ – Parking & Driving
  • • Can I park at your place when I collect the van?
  • Yes!
  • We have secured private parking in the Hills.
  • • Can we take the van on a long trip?
  • Of course! Your hire includes 200 km per day of travel at no extra cost.
  • • What if we go over the daily allowance?
  • Any extra distance is charged at 25c per km to cover vehicle maintenance.
  • Example: On a 4day hire, you’ll have 800 km included. Anything beyond that is charged at 25c per km
  • Hirer must be 22 years of age or older.

Cancellations

Flexible

  • Cancel earlier than 10 days before the start of the booking and receive a full credit. Refunds available upon request (less any admin fees) and may take up to 30 days to process.
  • Cancel between 4 and 10 days before the start of the booking and receive 90% credit. Booking fees will not be credited.
  • Cancellations less than 4 days before the start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

    The van is quite old however it is mechanically strong as a new Sprinter. The issues we had were generally minor and due to a remote handover. Mandy had to accommodate a couple of date changes and tried to help us at all times. She also refunded a long taxi fare and $35 for oil as it was a bit low initially but didnt use any more. A big reason for hiring the van was Mandys willingness for us to drive on unsealed roads in Flinders Ranges which you must use to the amazing countryside.
