New research released by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia revealed that Australia’s recreational vehicle ownership is it an all-time high, with close to 680,000 vehicles registered in 2018, equating to 1 in every 13 households.

However, many of these caravans and motorhomes spend most of the year sitting idle in driveways or storage, with the average owner only able to use them for 40 nights a year. With two-thirds (62%) of RV owners now considering joining the share economy and 74% of prospective buyers keen to hire before they buy, Camplify is shaking up the industry and has quickly grown to become Australia’s largest caravan and motorhome sharing community.

With the average Australian RV owner aged 33[5], a new generation of nomads are revitalising the industry and relishing the simple pleasures of life in the slow lane. Childhood nostalgia, staycations and the boho #VanLife movement (with over 4.6 million Instagram photos) are some of the trends fuelling a new golden era for homes-on-wheels. Amidst industry predictions that 2019 will be the stand-out year for RV sharing, Justin Hales, CEO of Camplify explains why there’s no better time to join the movement:

“It’s a really exciting time to be in the outdoor industry. With more people seeking stand-out holidays under the stars, we’re experiencing steady growth across Australia and the UK, and have helped our registered RV owners earn over $8.5million in hire income since launch."

"With the new research also highlighting a growing trend in Aussies wanting to test drive caravans on an adventure before they invest, we're thrilled to be able to provide reassurance and excitement around their purchase by connecting them with our community of over 3,5000 RVs.

"As interest in the caravan share economy grows, we're driving progression across the UK, Australia and our imminent arrival in New Zealand, whilst also exploring the potential to expand into additional markets across Europe. We’re leading the charge to make caravanning experiences accessible for all, and are looking forward to unlocking new adventures and earning opportunities for recreational vehicles around the word."
