This wine-making region is one of the boldest in Australia. Its fruity tastes and relaxed atmosphere make it popular with tourists and loved by locals.
Winter is the perfect chance to cuddle up with someone, enjoying the warm fires and great tastes. Once you hit spring, the crowds return and things get a little livelier.

The Great Alpine Road
This iconic road winds its way 339 kilometres through Victoria’s High Country. During winter, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and ski on the mountainous slopes.
Keep in mind, motorhomes and campervans aren’t allowed along the Great Alpine Road in winter, so you might prefer to hire a caravan for this part of your Country Victoria road trip during spring, summer or autumn instead.
Hepburn Mineral Spring Reserves
Amazing for winter are these incredible springs. The invigoratingly warm mineral water is the perfect gift for yourself.
Visitors often explore the surrounding Hepburn Regional Park in the morning before spending the afternoon relaxing in the soothing mineral waters.
Maldon
Country Victoria boasts plenty of cool and quirky towns. Maldon is northwest of Melbourne and one of the most well-preserved pieces of history in Australia.
This quaint little settlement has the title of Australia’s First Notable City and has been carefully preserved since the days of the gold rush. Famous sites include the old post office (built in 1870), the local railway station (1884) and the Grand Hotel (1888).
These beautifully maintained buildings are a must-see for any history lover.
Grampians National Park
This nature reserve contains ancient Aboriginal art. These rock paintings and shelters have been there for over 20,000 years.
Take a scenic drive through the natural beauty and be sure to stop in at Brambuk. The National Park & Cultural Centre will teach you more about this ancient art. Allow yourself to be transported back in time and immersed in a different culture.
With soaring sandstone peaks and an abundance of natural wildlife, Grampians National Park is a must-see!
